Membership

Membership 2012 (January to May) is the opportunity for our whole church family to explore the value and significance of covenanted membership in a world that doesn’t like to sign up for anything much, or not at any deep, lasting level.

What difference does Membership make? Nothing - in the sense that you can already belong and participate in the family life of this church without it b) Everything - in helping us live a covenanted life as followers of Jesus Christ within the Christian community which is The Salvation Army.

There will be 10 units on offer (Sundays 1-2.30pm) and your participation will involve attending the units you need to be ready and prepared to make serious consideration of  some kind of Membership commitment (although there will be no pressure to make a commitment that you don’t feel ready for). If you can't attend any particular unit all you need to do is let us know and we'll arrange to cover it with you personally another time!

Here's an outline of the 10 units:

•Jan 29: Belonging to the Church
•Feb 5: The Church – Jesus to now
•Feb 19: The Story of God – What Christians Believe 1
•Feb 26: The Story of God – What Christians Believe 2
•Mar 4: Becoming a Christian
•Mar 11: Whole-life discipleship
•Mar 25: Salvation Army distinctives
•Apr 15: Learning to love
•Apr 22: Serving Christ
•Apr 29: Whole-life worship
•May 6: Reflections/Lunch
•May 20: Sutton SA Church

Kids and Youth Membership 2012 will be covered through our KAOS programme and our High School group.

The series is for the whole church family - even those who've already taken membership, there will be an event to look again and re-evaluate those promises in readiness for May 20th, 2011.

As we approach the May 20th end of our membership series we are asking people to consider their own covenant choice. You can have a look at the three different covenants that can be signed. We are encouraging everyone who calls Sutton SA Church their spiritual home, to sign the Sutton SA Church covenant, if they feel comfortable doing so.
